Rathaus, Basel

Walking through the streets of Basel’s old town we were pleasantly surprised to see the beautiful red Rathaus of Basel. This town hall is so different from the row of buildings adjacent to it and cheered us instantly. Even the damp weather around hardly seemed to matter.

Rathaus dates from sixteenth century, the façade is elaborately painted with various characters. Each fresco there is worth framing with lens.

With sights like these the gray skies only make the colors of the building more beautiful! The frescoes are breathtaking! Incredible captures as always, Indrani! And I always enjoy the tours you take us on! Enjoy your weekend!

Wow, no wonder the weather didn't matter. This place is a climate zone all by itself. I love it.

Beautiful place; even the rooftop is intricately painted in various colors. I like the weather-vane type sprinting figure in the same photo. Pray tell, what is this building used for?
Looks like you had a nice time visiting this town of Basel.
