Multicolored Dahlias

Selective breeding and hybridizing dahlias is one of the favorite experiments of Dahlia growers. Successful experiments have produced a largest array of forms, colors, sizes and patterns. 20th century saw around 50,000 varieties developed and registered in 570 individual classes!

Lal Bagh botanical garden of Bangalore too has a wide variety of Dahlia. More new forms, colors, and sizes are being added. The sections of the flower display with Dahlias keep both bees and photographers busy.

Here are a couple of multicolored Dahlias.

Observe the differences in colors, petal shapes and the way they bend inwards and outwards... small details but these features make them look so different.

Both of these dahlias are beautiful but I really like the colors and shape of the second one. You are right, dahlias keep both bees and photographers very busy.

It was a feast to my ailing eyes so brilliant they are. Equally the quality of the photographs is superb.

I adore dahlias not only for their splendid blooms but also for their great attraction of butterflies. In the second photo you also have zinnias, they too are beloved by butterflies.
