Faces of India - 59

A mahout at work. His son gets free rides. The shot was taken in Dubare elephant camp, Coorg, Karnataka.

Faces of India, a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country. See more here.

It's when I see shots like this that I'm suddenly aware of the wonderful differences in our countries, Indrani! I love the elephant, the expression -- almost questioning on the man's face, and the young man's colorful attire! Such a bright spot of color against the elephant and his Dad! Wonderful! Enjoy your weekend!

This is another wonderful portrait in this series. I like the way he is making sure his son is safe atop the elephant.

This is India with the very special profession! The boy’s clothes is so brilliant. I wonder if he is the next generation of mahout. The eye of the elephant is impressive.

That child is adorable. He looks so tiny perched atop such a magnificent creature's head. And I just love elephant's eyes. So soulful. Lovely capture.
