Faces of India - 152

On this International Women’s Day I have these cheering women farmers of Chikmagalur, Karnataka! I saw them toiling under hot sun with just a piece of cloth on head. In spite of all hardships they can smile and wave to a passerby! I salute their spirits!

Faces of India, a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. See more here.

This is my 1000th post in this blog.

Revealing the gap between men and women farmers.

So down to earth. And so fresh-looking. I see the harmony between the most wonderful of creations- nature and women, both of them being mothers. There is not a single male around - no wonder there is a natural happiness in the picture.

Such pictures cheer you up instantly. You have a way with picking subjects for your pictures, Indrani. A very 'human' way, if you know what I mean. Lovely!

Hi Indrani,Awesome pics as always and aptly portrayed on the occasion of IWD. While they might not be aware of the significance of the day, you have put them in front of the world through this pic. That is very thoughtful of you. Also hearty congratulations on your 1000th post.

I am waiting to see another 1000th soon. Nice snap. Female farm workers toil more hard during sowing. They do a fast and sincere work only to get less pay as compared to their male counterpart.

I had to refresh the page four times before the image loaded completely (something to do with my network speed) and it was worth the wait.
